Before the Throne

Before the throne of God above,

I have a strong, and perfect plea,

A great High Priest whose name is “Love,”

Who ever lives and pleads for me.

My name is graven on His hands,

My name is written on His heart;

I know that while in heav’n He stands

No tongue can bid me thence depart.

No tongue can bid me thence depart.

When Satan tempts me to despair,

And tells me of the guilt within,

Upward I look and see Him there

Who made an end to all my sin.

Because the sinless Savior died,

My sinful soul is counted free;

For God, the Just, is satisfied

To look on Him and pardon me.

To look on Him and pardon me.

Hallelujah                 Hallelujah

Praise the One, Risen Son of God

Behold Him there! the risen Lamb,

My perfect, spotless Righteousness,

The great unchangeable I AM,

The King of glory and of grace!

One with Himself I cannot die,

My soul is purchased by His blood;

My life is hid with Christ on high,

With Christ, my Savior and my God.

With Christ, my Savior and my God.

Hallelujah                 Hallelujah

Praise the One,    Risen Son of God

Not to us

Not to us

The cross before us, the world behind,

No turning back, raise the banner high;

It’s not for us, it’s all for You.

Let the heavens shake and splite the sky,

Let the people clap their hands and cry;

It’s not for us, its all for You.

Not to us; But to your name be the glory

Not to us; But to your name be the glory

Our hearts unfold before Your throne,

The only place for those who know;

It’s not for us, it’s all for You.

Send Your holy fire on this offering,

Let our worship burn for the world to see;

Its not for us, it’s all for You.

The earth is shacking, the mountains shouting; it’s all for You

The waves are crashing, the Sun is raging; it’s all for You

Your Children dancing, dancing, dancing; it’s all for You

Nothing is ours, nothing can be said that we have done; all of it is Christ’s and everything we have done is through the power of the Holy Spirit and given to us by God Himself.  He made us in His image and for those that he calls to His kingdom, He already foreknew them before time began.

Came to my rescue

Come to my rescue

Falling on my knees in worship

Giving all I am to seek your face

Lord, all I am is yours

My whole life I place in Your hands

God of mercy humbled I bow down

In Your presence at Your throne

I called, You answered

And you came to my rescue and I,

I want to be where You are

In my life be lifted high

In our world be lifted high

In our love be lifted high

I do like this song, but some people could look at this as a song singing about us and not fully about God and Jesus Christ. It is tough though to figure out what exactly are biblical songs that are directed at God and not focused too much on us as humans.  This song still has a good message to it, even though it might be skewed in the focus of the song.  The part I am mostly focusing on is the chorus, where it says “I called, You answered; And you came to my rescue and I, I want to be where You are.” God did come to our rescue and we should want to be where He is, but us calling Him is something I don’t believe is true.  No one is going around saying “Hey God, I’m here! Help me out!” Usually, we rebell and want to do our own thing. It is not until the Holy Spirit come’s upon us and puts the regreat of what we just did.  God called us, those that are His children and the elect.  Our sinful natures did nothing before God sprouted a response in our soul.

This is how I think that part should go: “You called, I answered; And you came to my rescue and I, I want to be where You are.”  Another thing with the song, is a lot of times Christians just sing it and never really think to understand what they are saying.  “Falling on our knees; giving all we are; all we are is His; whole life in His hands; humbled we bow down; Life, world, love, God should be lifted high”.  These things are huge in someone’s life, becuase of how much we want to be able to control somethings.  We should be giving our alls to Him, and I even know of myself that I don’t do it all the time, but we need to keep that thinking constantly in our minds and ask God for help as well.

There was some red that most in Huskerland didn’t want to see on Saturday. So, on that note, I will start looking to some better red colors… Christmas. Only a couple more months away!!!

If you would like to read the first part in this two part series, you can go here.

Here are the lyrics from Tedashii‘s new album Identity Crisis,  song entitled Make War:

[Intro:] ~John Piper~

I hear so many Christians, murmuring about their imperfections, and their failures, and their addiction, and their shortcomings. And I see so little war!…  Murmur, murmur, murmur. Why am I this way?…  Make War!

[Verse 1:] ~Tedashii~

Bang with me/ba-bang bang, ba-bang with me/ No more playing games man/cause this thing can get risky/So man if you in Christ/TAKE UP!!/your cross quickly/Stand fearless on the front line/time to come with it/Do the right thing/WAKE UP!!/and lets get it/I ain’t even in the ring/they throwing bows like Riddick/Persistently attacking me/they’re even in the back of me/It’s either fight or loose my life and I can’t take this passively/So what you think I’m bout to do/I’m bout to do what I can do/Trust the ONE who got me through/and fight like it was after school/Never giving up/steady, standing on the battle field/Feet firm to the ground like I stepped on Chappel Hill/Flesh feeling frisky, sin persuades and tempts me/Satan cheers me on/guilt followed by conviction/It’s the same ol’ trap/and we fall like we defenseless/Work your senses/grow in wisdom/stand firm and be relentless/

I MAKE WAR!/Cause sin never sleeps/It’s got me in a trance/you can see it in my dreams/I MAKE WAR!/Man I beat my flesh/To the death/every breath/like I beat my chest/I MAKE WAR/sun up/I MAKE WAR/sun down/I MAKE WAR/time in/I MAKE WAR/time out/I MAKE WAR/against lust/I MAKE WAR/Against pride/I MAKE WAR/ Against me/I MAKE WAR/Until I die/

[Verse 2:] ft. ~Flame~

Do you even have a clue/What happened to you when He died/When that tomb got rolled/ when He rose in the sky/I think we emphasis sin so much/That it makes us paralyzed/And glorify struggle so much/That it makes us terrified/And de-emphasize the fact that we have been sterilized from our own lives and thus/We gotta snap out of it/We ain’t in no straight-jacket/We free/When Jesus died in our lives something strange happened/He gave us power/Yeah I know that we sinners but since He rose He’s renewing the image of God in us/Now, we gotta start making war/Now we can start saying no/To them fleshy impulses that Jesus Christ is paying for/Now we can start taking the lead/Just like the Dalai Lama and start going all out like a suicide bomber/Whatever the sin is we gotta go go go harder/By His grace no time to waste and just just just like there’s no tomorrow/

[Verse 3:] ~Tedashii~

I’m a Christ representer, fit to stand and deliver/Cause a lot of my believers struggle with their agenda/So I dropped this on an ADAT/just so you could come play back/A hit to be encouraged that rocks you with truth from, way back/So listen up to it ASAP/like you do a Lecrae track/I’m spittin’ written visions to put on heads like a wave cap/Sinning, nawl we don’t play that/cause that’s the way that as slave act/I’m filled with the Spirit so tell them dog this is pay back/As you begin to copy the carbon copies of Christ/And conform to His written image you should be shinning a light/If you not, why is that?/Is it fear that’s been grippin’ you/cause you scared they’ll be dissin’ you/Flipping birds while that spit at you/If you not, why is that?/it don’t matter so bump it/perfect love cast out fear and He ain’t save us for nothing/his is a privilege (privilege)/your life to give to Him (give to Him)/so stand firm for Him dawg and lets get it in/

Everybody wants to go to Heaven

Posted in following Jesus, God, Music with tags , , , , , , , , , , , , , on June 25, 2009 by rylanreed

The first time I heard this song, it made me really sad, because Kenny totally has the wrong view point on Heaven and how to get there.  I am sure everyone “wants to go to heaven” but not everyone is going to be there.  You will definitely see a lot less people in Heaven than what you might think will be up there, and even with how many people call themselves Christians, not all will be up with Christ when He calls those that are His children home.  I have copied Kenny’s lyrics on here to show you just how incorrect it really is…

Everybody Wants To Go To Heaven – Kenny Chesney

Preacher told me last Sunday mornin’ — Son, you better start livin’ right — You need to quit the women and whiskey — And carrying on all night — Don’t you wanna hear him call your name — When you’re standin’ at the pearly gates — I told the preacher, “Yes I do” — But I hope they don’t call today — I ain’t ready

Everybody wants to go to heaven — Have a mansion high above the clouds — Everybody want to go to heaven — But nobody want to go now

Said preacher maybe you didn’t see me — Throw an extra twenty in the plate — There’s one for everything I did last night — And one to get me through today — Here’s a ten to help you remember — Next time you got the good Lord’s ear — Say I’m comin’ but there ain’t no hurry — I’m havin’ fun down here

Don’t you know that — Everybody wants to go to heaven — Get their wings and fly around — Everybody want to go to heaven — But nobody want to go now

Someday I want to see those streets of gold in my halo — But I wouldn’t mind waiting at least a hundred years or so

Everybody wanna go to heaven — It beats the other place there ain’t no doubt

Everybody wanna go to heaven — But nobody wanna go now — Everybody wanna go to heaven — Hallelujah, let me hear you shout — Everybody wanna go to heaven — But nobody wanna go now — I think I speak for the crowd — But nobody wanna go now

Everybody wanna go to heaven — Get their wings and fly around — Everybody want to go to heaven — But nobody want to go now

This verse is the one that troubles me the most.  “Said preacher maybe you didn’t see me — Throw an extra twenty in the plate — There’s one for everything I did last night — And one to get me through today — Here’s a ten to help you remember — Next time you got the good Lord’s ear — Say I’m comin’ but there ain’t no hurry — I’m havin’ fun down here” Nothing you do will get you into heaven, none of your good works or anything like that.  Its not even a part your action of accepting Christ into you life (but that is a whole other topic that we could spend much time on).  It definitely doesn’t matter how much you put into the offering plate, cause all the money in the world is God’s anyways.  Also, God choose the time, place and situation in which people will be taken from this earth (which mean death) and either sent to Heaven or Hell (which is a real place, to all you who think not).

I don’t want this to be all bad news, God is calling His children to Him and to heaven when the time comes.  All you get to do, (its a get to, not a have to) is seek hard after Christ and He will do the rest.  No one’s perfect, we all know that, and God is not calling us to be perfect, but for us to allow Christ to rule in our lives and for us to live for Him.

‘Alive’ Poem

I found this artist from one of my good friends, Dan, who worked with me on STINT to South Africa until he became sick and had to go back to the states to get the treatment that would help him get better.  He is now in the States, but it will take probably a year for him to get healed.  Please pray that he would cling to God during this time and know that God does have a plan right now for His life.  And pray that he would be healed in a much quicker time than what is thought right now.

This poem is written and sung by Jonah Werner.

Unbenonced to you and me, beyond the place of terany, there lies a love that holds us, in sure and constant watch.  I pass a place of future crashing and far beyond the tongs and lashing, there lies a blaze that’s burning, never to be drenched.  When people live and love beyond themselves, hearts betray this bitter world, there’s bound to be a breaking.  But I can’t sweat for better yet when all I have is manifest in who I am, who I was and what I’m not mistaking.  That this is freedom, living and loving hard, when guaranties are lude and shard and I can’t rest on human souls, cause they are impractical and brusing.  There’s got to be more, there’s got to be Something deeper out there and I hope that you look and you find. Because the people are being restored where vines and branches sever more and never have it been so crazy.  Kick the doors to free me to say that I am alive and I’m thriving still, I’ve lost my feet but I won’t lose my will. You can hurt but you can not kill, the raging fires, of a man who’s been caught by Human lies time after time. Who’s been soaked and choked and rung by compromise, who was once dead but is now ALIVE.

What a wonderful Saviour that we have in Jesus Christ.  Let us worship Him today as we thank him for that things that we have been given, the chance to get to spend eternity with Him in heaven, if we are truely followers of Christ.

A few words from Lecrae…

This is a video of Lecrae, some shots taken from a talk that he gave and a concert with Tedashi and then an interview with Leethal (who is the one that made this video).  He talks a little about who he is and what he is trying to do with Hip Hop music.  He is definitely doing some good things for the Lord!

I found this on a friends sight and thought I would pass it along.  Kari Jobe made a video that included other people’s stories and related it to her song I’m Singing.  Here are both videos…

Even in the hard times God is still there right by your side and He has a purpose for everything that happens!

Missions exist because Worship doesn’t

Posted in Culture, following Jesus, God, Music with tags , , , , , , , , , , , , , , on April 13, 2009 by rylanreed

I was listening to a Lecrae song a few days ago and heard this quote that he said toward the end of his song SEND ME “Missions exist because worship doesn’t”.  Right off the bat, I knew that the quote was from John Piper and loved the song even more.  I read this passage in Let the Nations be Glad and this is where the quote comes from!

“Missions exist because worship doesn’t!. . . The infinite, all-glorious Creator of the universe, by whom and for whom all things exist–who holds every person’s life in being at every moment (Acts 17:25)–is disregarded, disbelieved, disobeyed, and dishonored among the peoples of the world. That is the ultimate reason for missions. The opposite to this disrespect is worship. Worship is not a gathering. It is not essentially any form of outward act. Worship is essentially an inner stirring of the heart to treasure God above all the treasures of the world~
A valuing of God above all else that is valuable
a loving of God above all else that is lovely
a savoring of God above all else that is sweet
an admiring of God above all else that is admirable
a fearing of God above all that is fearful
a respecting of God above all else that is respectable
a prizing of God above all else that is precious.

In other words, worship is right affections in the heart toward God, rooted in right thoughts in the head about God, becoming visible in the right actions of the body reflecting God. These three stages of worship from inner essence to outward display can be seen in three texts; Matthew 15:8-9, John 4:23, Matthew 5:16.”

“People don’t worship the God that made them!”  Our call is to help people worship the one true God, and not to worship or put trust in us, who call ourselves Christians, but still need the Savior in all parts of our life, especially when ministering to others.  Let us worship our Lord and Savior in telling others His great story!
